How to convert Australian to American - distance.

I am aware of my audience.  As much as I can, when quoting figures for various things in my local currency (kilograms, kilometres, celcius) I try to also include in brackets the imperial equivalent (pounds, miles, fahrenheit).  But from time to time I do slip up (or get lazy more likely).  So here is a ready reckoner for converting modern to primitive, metric to imperial, Australian to American.
